Blog Feature!

Rewined Recycled Glassware was recently featured on 'The Vision Quest for Life" blog. I LOVE the title of this post: Don't Crap up the Earth!!! Yea! Let's keep it real!

I also love the quote they have in the side bar. It has been one of my favorites for years. Click the quote and check out this interesting blog.

What people are saying about Rewined Recycled Glassware

I am lucky to have a job making recycled glass where I get so much positive feedback from my customers! It warms my heart to get these little messages, and I wanted to share a couple of them with you as well.

"It's kinda perverse how much I love these glasses. I've purchased one set for myself, and one as a wedding gift for a friend...and I'm considering buying more soon. I will wash one of these glasses to use rather than pick a clean glass from the cupboard. When I have people over, I show them off. I just wanted to say - aside from my old feedback - how much I love your work, and how tickled I am that you appear to be enjoying some success. That is all,"
Catt-Chicago

"The carafe came today and I like it a bunch, the color combination is wonderful.
I am trying to change how I use money. I am making a real effort to only make purchases that fulfill several specific criteria, your work made that easy. Firstly it must be something that will fulfill a real use in my life and will do so with beauty, the carafe does that very well. Secondly it must be something that is, in some way, an environmental positive. Your carafe is made from repurposed bottles and all of the packing material is recyclable so that works too. Thirdly I want to buy directly from the people that create what I am buying to support the independent craftspeople and artisans and that works as well.

Thank you for doing such wonderful work and for sharing it with me."

In peace,
Gale- Chicago

I guess I didn't notice until right now both of these are from Chicago! Thanks for the love Chitown!!

Etsy: Quit your Day Job Feature

Zeke of bodhicitta was able to successfully cut back on the hours at his previous glass fabricating day job until he was able to give full notice and venture into a "right livelihood," running his own environmentally-friendly business selling recycled post consumer wine bottles. Zeke notes Etsy enabled him to make this leap and advises reading the business articles on The Storque. Keep reading to find out why Zeke says every Etsy seller should learn the basics of SEO and why he thinks he just may need to invest in a trust time-clock.

The Story of Stuff

What is the Story of Stuff???
From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.
Watch this it is AWESOME!!!!! Pay attention to it all, but especially the 'ANOTHER WAY' section.
I am proud to say that Rewined Recycled Glassware is helping close the loop of unsustainable production and consumption by producing completely utilitarian glassware from NOTHING NEW! No virgin raw materials are used. They can be used again and again and again. If you decide to get rid of them you can put them in your recycle bin and they can be made into new bottles!

Inspiration!

I haven't turned on my television since Febuary. I had decided not to get the digital converter box and instead live my life sans idiot box. Interestingly enough this was not a deterant to being selected as a Nielson family. I suppose they need to know that TV is a dying medium and people in my demographic increasingly get there informational and entertainment content from the computer. So now I have and idiot plane; which is an affectionate reference to my laptop computer screen. The last four months without TV has been great. I don't miss it at all. I have found all sorts of iteresting things to watch in the hours that used to contain TV watching. This site, TED, is one of my favorites! I gain so much inspiration from this site and actually feel like there is people on top of the problems that we face and are coming up with super creative solutions! It makes me want to do my best and use my creativity and talents to be part of the solution.

What's your bands name dude??!?!!

A friend of mine posted this on her blog and I thought it was so much fun I wanted to share!

Here’s what you do:

1 - Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random… Read More”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.
